Brief Job Description
The Systems Administration Group focuses on increasing the reliability of all Zoot systems, while decreasing the time and complexity of software deployment due to region variability. The Tools & Services Administrator position within the Systems Administration Group focuses on creating and maintaining back-end processes that manipulate, analyze, and transport sensitive data in a secure, distributed Linux environment. They administer, configure, and troubleshoot mission critical Linux based servers, and design and implement systems within such an environment. The Tools Administrator position is fast paced and ever changing and requires regular management of changing priorities. Occasional nighttime and weekend work is required within this position.


Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Install new software releases and system upgrades.
  2. Automate routine/regular processes through scripts/programs.
  3. Assist with client support and application support.
  4. Create support documentation to be used by client support technicians.
  5. Train client support technicians on new applications, techniques, etc.
  6. Respond to pages and assist in critical problem resolution.
  7. Assist with evaluating and recommending IT solutions, products, and services.
  8. Perform routine maintenance and backups as necessary on data center servers.
  9. Configure and install new equipment and services as needed.
  10. Other duties as assigned - it is understood that this list of major duties and responsibilities is not an inclusive list and that other duties and responsibilities, which may include helping others in the same or different departments, may be assigned by supervision.


Technical and Business-Related Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  1. Computers and Electronics - Specific knowledge of computer hardware and software, including applications, scripting language, object oriented language, relational databases, and programming.
  2. Engineering and Technology - Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology; including applying principles, techniques and procedures to the design and production of software systems.

  10. Technology Design - Generating or adapting equipment and technology to serve user needs.
  11. Troubleshooting - Determining causes of operating errors and deciding what to do about it.
  12. Finger and Wrist Dexterity - The ability to make coordinated movements of the fingers and wrists of one or both hands to type and grasp objects.
  13. Near Vision - The ability to see details at close range (within a few feet of the observer).

Educational Background or Professional Designation Required:

  • Four-year College Degree, Computer Science or related field plus
  • 2 years related work experience. Linux and/or UNIX experience, preferred. OR
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience.
